Most parents with young kids have at least one kids’ movie, TV show or song that drives them nuts because they’ve had to hear it or see it so many times, but Brantley Gilbert admits, “What’s funny is like, the animated movies and stuff, like I love ‘em! They’re pretty good nowadays.”
Part of the reason Brantley isn’t sick of his 18-month-old son Barrett’s favorite shows is because he doesn’t watch them constantly. Brantley says, “He loves Puppy Dog Pals, he loves Mickey, he likes Paw Patrol, but he doesn’t watch enough of it. When I say this kid wants to be outside I mean he wants to get outside. He would rather stand on the windowsill and look out the window than he would sit in front of the TV, and that’s the honest to God truth.”
Brantley says Barrett will pay attention when the songs come on in some of his favorite shows. “He’ll go over there and he’ll stomp his foot and he’ll look at the TV, but when the song goes off, he’s over it. He’s ready to go outside.”
Chances are Brantley will be seeing plenty of kids’ shows and hearing the songs when he takes the family out on the road with him this summer, while he’s out performing shows to promote his latest single, “What Happens in a Small Town.” Brantley will play fairs and festivals throughout the summer, before kicking off the Not Like Us Tour in late August.
