CURRENT SINGLE: “Hard Days”
When Brantley Gilbert and his wife Amber first met and started dating, they were kind of like star-crossed lovers in their hometowns. “I’m from Jefferson, Georgia,” says Brantley. “I was born and raised there, graduated with 66 people. It was a tiny town. My wife graduated from Commerce High School, which is right across the river. It’s literally like they’re three, four miles from each other. But it was the most hated rivalry for high school football in the state of Georgia. You weren’t supposed to date across the river.”
So, while they were in high school, Brantley says they were kinda like Romeo and Juliet. And now, even decades later, they still honor the rivalry, “To the extent,” says Brantley, “that we live in Maysville, which is like neutral territory. It’s right in between the two.”
