Brantley Gilbert’s new song, “Hard Days,” is about appreciating the bad times in life because they get you to the good times and make them that much sweeter. Admittedly, it’s probably not a song Brantley would have written or recorded earlier in his career when he was living a much rougher life, unable to truly appreciate the beauty in his life. “I think it’s safe to say that my outlook on life has changed a pretty good bit,” says Brantley. “There was a point in my life where, hell, I didn’t know if I’d make it to 30. There were some folks whose opinion mattered that told me I probably wouldn’t see 30 if I kept livin’ the way I was.”
Fortunately, everything has changed for Brantley, including the fact that he got alcohol and opioid free about eight years ago, he married the love of his life, Amber, and he has two beautiful kids – his son Barrett, who’s two and his 10-month-old daughter Braylen. And Brantley says, “I think looking back now, my outlook’s definitely changed, obviously, and being able to look back now and take the good with the bad and appreciatin’ the bad for it leading to the things I’m blessed with now. God has blessed me with an amazing wife, amazing family and amazing life. But I will say I don’t think I’d be where I am now had it not been for my hard days.”
