CURRENT SINGLE: “You Didn’t”
Before Brett Young and his wife Taylor settled down and got married three years ago, they were in a years-long on again, off again relationship that definitely had its problems. Brett acknowledges his part in his relationship’s early problems. ”I’m an only child, I’m an athlete, I’m an artist, I’m a songwriter… I’m like all the things you tell your daughter not to date,” he jokes. And he says, “I was competitive in my relationship and I was a fight-to-win fighter, things that looking back I’m embarrassed about.”
Taylor is also able to take responsibility for her contributions to an early unhealthy relationship with Brett. He says, “She had come out of a relationship that was combative, (which made her combative), and she’s opinionated too. And because I knew she was that way I always was able to justify the way that I was in the relationship by blaming her cause I knew that she was that way.”
Both of them growing up enabled Brett and Taylor’s relationship to finally work, and he also says, “The thing that made it work this time was that both of us were ready to kind of put our egos down.”
Now Brett and Taylor have been married for three and a half years, and they have two beautiful daughters, Presley and Rowan.

And also, she had come out of a relationship that was combative, and so, so was she, and she’s opinionated too. And because I knew she was that way I always was able to justify the way that I was in the relationship by blaming her cause I knew that she was that way.
