CURRENT SINGLE: “Lady”
While almost all live shows are still on hiatus, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, known as the Mother Church of Counrtry Music, has successfully begun hosting shows again with socially distanced audiences and mandatory masks. Brett got to play a show at The Ryman toward the end of last year, and he says, “First of all, it was a blast. I hope it is telling about where we’re headed and that maybe we’re turning a corner.”
While the Covid-19 numbers in the U.S. don’t look great and Brett doesn’t think he’ll be able to schedule a bunch of dates anytime soon, getting to play The Ryman was a thrill for him after not setting foot on a stage in front of a live audience for many months. “That felt really good. You know, it was a small amount of people, but just the fact that we had audience members there for a live show. Ten percent occupancy at the Ryman, I thought, there’s no way you’re gonna feel nervous about this, Brett. That’s like a tenth of the room. You’re gonna be fine. And then I walked in and saw live faces and I got super nervous, which was a good experience because it’s been a while.”
While some artists and their teams are trying to find ways to play shows as soon as they canm Brett says, “I don’t know. I mean, we don’t have any tricks up our sleeves, so to speak. But it is nice to see things like that happening and for music to continue to kind of find a way. And so, it felt really good and hopefully there are more things like that on the horizon.”
Brett actually has 15 tour dates scheduled so far in 2021, with one in April, a string of dates in Canada in May and a handful of U.S. dates spread out from May – September. Of course all dates are subject to the state of the pandemic, but Brett is hopeful. You can see his currently scheduled shows on brettyoungmusic.com.

“First of all, it was a blast. I hope it is telling about where we’re headed and that maybe we’re turning a corner. I don’t spend a ton of time looking at the numbers.
