CURRENT SINGLE: “It’s Cause I Am”
Callista Clark is not only a great singer and songwriter, but she’s also a self-taught musician and quite a few instruments. She started when she was really young, and she says, “The first instrument I ever played was a ukulele. And my mom had tried to get me to play guitar some before, but I gave up pretty quick because I was so young and my hands were so small and I couldn’t form chords, so I gave up pretty quick with that.”
It wasn’t until Callista saw her younger sister pick up the ukulele and start learning how to play songs really quickly, that she also picked up the instrument. Callista says, “I thought it would be a great way to start learning how to play instruments and singing at the same time. So, six months went by and after that I started playing guitar and it went from there.”
Callista tried taking guitar lessons one time, but she admits she was stubborn and didn’t like to learn the way she was being taught, so she quit lessons and taught herself how to play guitar. But she didn’t stop there. “Now,” says Callista, “I think it’s eight instruments that I play, but that’s if you count a key-tar, which is just a keyboard on your hip, you know.”
Callista hopes that as her career progresses, she will be known equally as a musician, a singer and a songwriter.
