CURRENT SINGLE: “Champagne Night”
Lady A released a Deluxe Edition of their 2012 Christmas album, On This Winter’s Night, just last month, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, it features four new songs, including a version of Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” and The Beach Boys “Little St. Nick.” Charles Kelley explains, “Anybody that has our Christmas record, you know there’s a lot of very familiar Christmas songs, and we wanted to find a couple that were familiar, but there hasn’t been a ton of covers of. And there really hasn’t been that many covers of ‘Little St. Nick’ or Paul McCartney’s much at all, and so we thought that’d be kind of different and unique.”
Lady A also wrote a brand new, original Christmas song to add to the Deluxe version of their album. According to Dave Haywood, “The three of us sat down and wrote a song called ‘Christmas Through Your Eyes,’ about, you know, kind of regaining the magic of seeing Christmas through the eyes of our children, which was a really fun write.”
The fourth song Lady A added to the Deluxe Edition of On This Winter’s Night is a song that a lot of people have probably heard a snippet of but may not be very familiar with it. “If you’ve ever seen Christmas Vacation, you remember the scene where Chevy Chase gets locked in the attic and he’s playing the little reel?” says Charles. “Well, there’s this Ray Charles song called ‘Spirit of Christmas’ and you can’t even find it anywhere. If you go on the internet you can find like a YouTube clip of it. But it’s such an amazing song and Ray Charles is just one of my idols. And so I said, man, I’ve always wanted to try this. And so, yeah, so those are the four new songs.”
Don’t miss Lady A performing two of those songs, “Wonderful Christmastime” and “Little St. Nick” tonight (11/30) on CMA Country Christmas at 9pm ET/8pm CT on ABC.
