CURRENT SINGLE: “Champagne Night”
With everything that has happened in the world in 2020, so many people are anxious to celebrate Christmastime and the holidays, just for the cheerful vibes and festive atmosphere it creates, and that includes Lady A. They were excited to get invited back to perform on this year’s CMA Country Christmas special, airing next Monday night on ABC. They just released a Deluxe Edition of their 2012 Christmas album, On This Winter’s Night, featuring four new songs, and Charles Kelley says getting to sing some of those songs, “I think it’s refreshing. We’re ready for Christmas.”
Hillary Scott agrees, and she says, “It can’t get here fast enough. But then at the same time, I want it to last forever because it’s like the most enjoyable part of the year.
Besides getting to kick off their holiday celebration a little early by performing on CMA Country Christmas, when we talked to Hillary about decorating, she was definitely ready. Normally, she says, “If I’m hosting Thanksgiving, then the tree goes up (before then). But then if we travel for Thanksgiving, then it normally is like the weekend after Thanksgiving. I think this year it will be the second I see the Christmas trees for sale, I think it will be when it goes up.”
Dave Haywood plans to stick to his tradition of eating Thanksgiving lunch and then buying his family’s tree on Thanksgiving day and decorating it that night. But, they all agree that getting to perform on this year’s CMA Country Christmas special will be unique. “I mean the show’s gonna be a little bit different this year,” says Hillary. “Obviously not having a live audience and having Thomas Rhett and Lauren hosting, it’s gonna have a family vibe. I feel like the holidays are always so much about family, and having the two of them hosting the night will just be really special.”
You can catch Lady A, along with Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line and Thomas Rhett, who will be doing double duty as co-host and a performer, next Monday night, November 30th, when CMA Country Christmas airs at 9pm ET/8pm CT on ABC.

Dave Haywood – “I wouldn’t mind startin’ early this year. I mean, I think we’re all wanting something to look forward to for the holidays.”
Charles Kelley – “You’re the ‘after Thanksgiving girl,’ aren’t you?”
Hillary Scott – “Well, it depends. If I’m hosting Thanksgiving, then the tree goes up. But then if we travel for Thanksgiving, then it normally is like the weekend after Thanksgiving. I think this year it will be the second I see the Christmas trees for sale, I think it will be when it goes up.”
Dave – “I like the Thanksgiving play. You know, you have a nice Thanksgiving lunch with the family and then that afternoon is like tree shopping, and kinda getting all of the decorations out of the attic and stuff. So, that feels like a good time to me.”
