A lot of country guys have welcomed babies over the past year, including Thomas Rhett and Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line. Thomas and his wife adopted two-year-old Willa Gray in May, and they welcomed six-month-old Ada James into the world back in August. And Tyler and his wife Hayley brought their two-month-old daughter Olivia or “Liv” into the world this past December. For Thomas it’s pretty awesome having someone who can relate to what his life is like these days. He says, “Tyler Hubbard is one of my best friends in the world and so we relate on a level that I don’t relate with some people that don’t have children. It’s funny like when you do have kids, all of a sudden, things that you talk about, about sleep don’t make sense to people that don’t have children.”
The fact that Thomas and Tyler are not only learning to be parents at the same time, but they both have huge careers in the music business makes their bond that much more unique. Thomas says, “We both lived the same life and now we’re living the same life except for we have two [kids] and they have one, which is way harder by the way. But it’s been really cool to kinda talk with Tyler and share like, ‘Are you sleeping on the road? Are you sleeping at home? Does it kill you when you have to leave Liv?’ Or me leaving Willa Gray and Ada. And it’s cool because we both experienced those same freedoms and now we’re in this place where we’re like we love having children but we’re both kind of getting used to the fact of what our new life is now. So it’s really nice to have a buddy that also does music for a living as well.”
It looks like Thomas will have his tenth number one song as of next week with “Marry Me,” which is something else that Tyler can relate to, having had a string of #1 hits with Florida Georgia Line.
