Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins, has been embraced by his fans, who often refer to them as #couplegoals or consider them a model of a perfect relationship, which is what prompted her to write her new book, Live in Love: Growing Together Through Life’s Changes. Thomas read the book, which is an accomplishment for him, because he says, “I don’t read books. The last book I read was Harry Potter.”
But he read Lauren’s book, and he says, “This book is absolutely fantastic, and I am biased because she’s my wife but I think it’s a really, really great read.”
The book is described by the publisher as a “refreshing and inspiring memoir,” in which Lauren “shows what it’s really like to be “the perfect couple” fans imagine, and reveals what it actually takes to live in love, stay in love, and grow together.”
While Thomas loves the book, he also admits, “It’s hard to read in the best way. This book really gets into severe detail of the adoption process, of what it was like when we first had kids and what it was like when I first got on the road and she had just graduated from Tennessee with a nursing degree and didn’t use her nursing degree. And like, talks about her childhood and what shaped her into the person she is now.”
Thomas and Lauren are very happily married and have a great family, but it takes a lot of work and a lot of conscious effort, and it’s not always easy, and the success of their marriage and their family is about being mindful and making the right choices, which is why Thomas says, “I think (this book is) gonna encourage and inspire a lot of 7 and 8 year old girls and also inspire a lot of people a lot older than 7 and 8. Just to learn that your decisions have weight and your words have weight and to really think about the choices you make in life. And it’s truly inspiring.”
Interestingly, a lot of the sentiment in Lauren’s book, about being mindful of your words and actions, revolves around the sentiment of Thomas’ latest single, “Be A Light.” Live in Love: Growing Together Through Life’s Changes will be released next Tuesday, August 18th.
