Thomas Rhett is a proud father of three young daughters, and while they’re all probably still too young to understand how popular their dad is and how much people love him and his music. Thomas jokes, “I hope that our kids think we’re remotely cool when they’re 25 years old. Most kids don’t.”
But more importantly, Thomas prides himself on being a family guy and an entertainer that other people can be comfortable listening to and watching in concert as a family. When he was sitting with some of his frequent co-writers, he said, “All these guys can tell you, when I’m writin’ a song and there’s a line that doesn’t fully represent my ethics or my morals, then it ain’t gonna be in the song.”
His co-writers confirm what Thomas was saying and even said there have been arguments because he refused to put a certain word or a certain line in his songs. But Thomas refuses to compromise because he says, “I just want to make sure that when my kids do hear my songs there’s nothing that they can go to school and say, ‘Well my dad said do that.’ You know what I’m saying? Like that would destroy me, I think.”
Even with a song like Thomas’ current single, “Beer Can’t Fix,” while it’s a drinking song, it’s a light-hearted, fun drinking song that doesn’t contain any embarrassing or questionable lyrics that Thomas has to worry about his kids or anyone else’s kids hearing.
