Maddie & Tae’s latest single “Fly” has inspired many of their fans to share stories about how the song has touched their lives, and Tae Dye says, “The feedback that we have been receiving for ‘Fly’ is very humbling and it’s been very positive.”

Tae remembers one specific example that touched both her and Maddie. She says, “(We) were doing this interview and they were asking us about ‘Fly’ and kind of our inspiration and we told them how we wrote it and how it came about, and afterwards one of the interns came up to us and she was telling us how she had recently moved to away and she understands how that feels. She’s having her own struggles, and she’s dealing with her own problems, and she said listening to us tell the inspiration for ‘Fly’ almost brought her to tears ‘cause it hit so close to home.”

The girls always joke that songwriting is like free therapy for them, but Tae says, “It’s in those moments where we realize, yes we may be writing these songs for free therapy for us to kind of get things off of our chests, but it’s also giving people a voice and helping them, and healing them, and that’s so special.”

“Fly” will be on Maddie & Tae’s debut album, Start Here, which will be available on June 2nd.

WHAT THEY’RE DOING THIS WEEK – MAY 18, 2015 – MONDAY 

Maddie & Tae scored a couple of nominations or the 2015 CMT Music Awards for their video “Girl In A Country Song.” They were nominated in the Video of the Year and Duo Video of the Year categories. This weekend (5/22), the duo play at the Tree Town Festival in Forrest City, Iowa.
