(:24) (Hank Williams Jr.) “They’ll probably get more of the same and when I say more of the same (laughs) they know that ‘There’s no telling what he’s gonna play up there’ (laughs). You know he might play the banjo, he might play the fiddle he might play a song he just wrote the other day so that’s the good thing it’s gonna be more of the same but you don’t know what the same is. And it’ll be several that they’ve never heard before that we just come out of the studio.”
Hank Williams Jr. has played shows just about everywhere during his long and successful career, but he remembers one place he played not long ago and their love of his music and lifestyle just blew him away:

(:39) (Hank Williams Jr.) “The upstate New York was in ’14 the spring in 2014 I thought, ‘Boy, why…this seems like an awful funny…’ ’cause I’ve played you know almost everywhere. When we got there good gosh I walked out on the stage there’s twenty thousand people out there. There’s rebel flags like twenty of ’em and ‘Don’t tread on Me’s’ and I thought, ‘My goodness…’ They got down in Hunter Mountain, New York that’s exactly where it was. And you know I hardly ever, ever go there well that one opened my eyes it was fantastic.”
Hank Williams Jr. talks about how having not many shows on the books a year and that it makes a difference for the show as fans have learned that each show I going to be quite an event:

(:38) (Hank Williams Jr.) “When you only do twenty four a year it’s a big difference it’s not gonna be, ‘Well, we can go see him…’ No you’re not gonna go see him over there ’cause him is gonna be fishing and him is gonna be hunting and you know they learned that a long time ago. It makes it special, I mean way upstate New York and Northern California were as good as anywhere. I remember he said, ‘Well, the cops are out of cuffs and the venue’s out of beer’ (laughs) says ‘I guess we can leave now’ (laughing) Oh yeah, it’s all good.”
When it comes to having hit songs Hank Williams Jr. has a ton of ’em and he just can’t sing every song at every show, but as he shares there is one song that he never leaves off his set list:

(:11) (Hank Williams Jr.) “In my acoustic live set ‘A Country Boy Can Survive’ will always be in there that’s for sure. I like to do different things and also I can’t really think but that one will always be in there.”
Hank Williams Jr. isn’t an artist that follows a special set list during his shows. As he shares, he just goes by the feel of the crowd on any given night:

(:17) (Hank Williams Jr.) “I go by the feel you know like ‘Oh this has gotta be number two and this has gotta be number five’ I’ve never, never done it that way. We’re not one of these groups that rehearses three days a week and that hasn’t happened in a long time and everything’s fine thank you (laughs).”
While Hank Williams Jr. isn’t one to rehearse he did make it to a few rehearsals including one for a big show in Nashville recently:

(:21) (Hank Williams Jr.) “Once in a while, yeah I did…we had seventy thousand people in Nashville, Tennessee a… at the big NRA show thing. The biggest one they ever had there and they said, ‘Wow, you’re gonna show up for rehearsal?’ So I did, yeah. So I’ve been to two this yeah, um, that’s a world record (laughs).”
After years of touring, Hank Williams Jr. knows the ideal location for one of his shows:

(:10) (Hank Williams Jr.) “The ideal spot for one of our shows in anywhere between Seattle and Miami and Los Angeles and New York works perfectly (laughs) really work well (laughs).”
Being the son of the legendary Hank Williams Sr., Hank Williams Jr. makes sure to pay a musical tribute to his father in many of his shows:

(:30) (Hank Williams Jr.) “Well I always like to do… and I’ve done it a lot more probably in the last four or five shows… I’ll give ’em a little bit of ‘Love Sick Blues’ and of course ‘You’re Cheatin’ Heart’ on piano but that’s Fats Domino ’cause he’s the one that years ago you know… And I say, ‘I just wanna remind ya’ll you know I am not adopted’ (laughs) and that’s when I will do you know the real Hank Sr. you know medley or something like that.”
Hank Williams Jr. talks about people’s reaction after they have seen one of his live shows:

(:29) (Hank Williams Jr.) “Well from what I gather and the age doesn’t matter either is ‘Gosh, I heard this and I heard that but gosh, I didn’t know you played everything up there. I didn’t know you played piano like that, I didn’t know you played fiddle like that. I didn’t know you played rock guitar like that. I didn’t know, I didn’t know… I didn’t know you played Delta Blues’ and on and on and on and that’s the take away. You know this guy don’t stand there and hold the mic and that’s good. That’s exactly what I want you to take away.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][divider align=”center” type=”solid” title=”LINERS”][vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
