(AUDIO) Reba Wanted To Be A School Teacher

If you know anything about Reba, you know she loves the rodeo, but the country queen says it couldn’t have been a career path. And there’s a simple reason…she’s extremely allergic to dust and dirt! And being in the arena, basically takes her voice away.

So, what if the Country Music Hall of Famer hadn’t turned to music? Well, Reba says she wanted to be a teacher. In fact she has a degree in elementary education and had planned to teach second grade.

Education was important to Reba, but she also loved sports growing up, especially basketball. And even as a teen, she was an entertainer. The superstar used to play guitar for all the girls at basketball camp!

And you might be surprised to find that something she learned at camp still resonates with her when choosing songs.

Reba- lesson learned at basketball camp :18
“When I was a kid in junior high, I’d go to basketball camps all the time. I lived for basketball. And at camp they had a little poem that said ‘little eyes are watching.’ So, that was imprinted into my brain, to what you do would influence people, not only grownups, but hopefully in a good way…kids also.”
