(AUDIO) A Thousand Horses Wrote The Songs They Wanted To Sing

A Thousand Horses had a hand in writing all of the songs on their debut album, including their latest single, “(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial,” but they say it wasn’t necessarily something they set out to do.

When choosing songs to record, Michael Hobby says, “We’re never opposed to anything. It never was really even a conscious thing of, we have to write all the songs, or we have to be on the songs together. We just all write songs and sometimes you write songs with your friends and other people, and that ends up being the best song that you want to play and perform.”

Perhaps the reason their songs made the cut is because Michael says, “When it comes to pickin’ songs, it’s just things all about what we wanted to sing, and what we wanted to play and what we wanted to be about, and it just happened to work out where we did end up writing the whole thing with just a few other friends of ours.”

A Thousand Horses’ debut album, Southernality, is available now.

Michael Hobby – “We’re never opposed to anything. It never was really even a conscious thing of, we have to write all the songs, or we have to be on the songs together. We just kinda always just, we just all write songs and sometimes you write songs with your friends and other people, and that ends up being the best song that you want to play and perform. When it comes to pickin’ songs, it’s just things all about what we wanted to sing, and what we wanted to play and what we wanted to be about, and it just happened to work out where we did end up writing the whole thing with just a few other friends of ours.”

Zach Brown – “Yah, I think when you set out to play music, I mean us, we set out to create music and write music and create our own thing. So, that’s kinda naturally what we did.”
