Maddie and Tae are up for three CMA Awards this year for Vocal Duo of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Video of the Year for their #1 debut single, “Girl in a Country Song,” and as it turns out, they almost didn’t release their award nominated song. According to Tae Dye, “We were actually surprised we even released it, ‘cause basically, ‘Girl in a Country’ song we were just venting how girls are portrayed in Country music and we sent it to our label. We really didn’t think anyone was gonna like it, no one was ever gonna hear it, and so the fact that we released it as our first single a month later is like mind-blowing.”
Luckily Maddie & Tae did release it and it went on to have huge success and earned them one of their three CMA Awards nominations. They just released their third single, “Shut Up and Fish,” off their debut album, Start Here.
