There’s no arguing how important our “National Anthem” is, and Reba says, “It’s the root of the love for our country. And when I sing it, it’s with such reverence.”
It has a double meaning for her, it was also the song that got her to Nashville.
While still in college, at her daddy’s suggestion, she got a job singing the anthem at the National Finals Rodeo. Her performance got the attention of country artist, Red Steagall. And in short, with his help, 11 months later she signed a record deal.
That’s the story of how her career began, but not what she thinks about when she sings the “The Star-Spangled Banner”…

Reba- National Anthem :14
“I should be filled with joy and get all excited, but I am so reserved with my feelings because I get so emotional when I think about ‘that’s our national Anthem,’ and I’m getting to sing it. So, I have to stay serious when I sing it, cause I’ll get all choked up.”
