There are a lot of superstitions surrounding New Year’s Day, like eating black-eyed peas and collard greens for luck, or not washing laundry on New Year’s Day because it’s bad luck, but Maddie Marlow of Maddie & Tae says, “I don’t have any superstitions because the black-eyed peas made me throw up one year, so I’m not a fan of the black-eyed peas thing anymore.”
Rather than relying on good luck or bad luck superstitions, Maddie says, “I just go into a new year with a good mind set and just start at that.”
