When an artist first hits the charts with a hit song, it’s easy to assume they came out of nowhere and hit it big out of the gate, but Justin Moore says, “Not unlike any other person who’s sittin’ in this seat, having been fortunate to have success, it takes a while. You know, you go through struggles and there’s highs and lows.”
He definitely was not what anybody would consider an overnight success. Justin says, “I moved to Nashville in 2002, signed my record deal in ’07, actually at my wedding reception. I didn’t tell my wife that ‘til a year or two later. I told her after I felt like it was safe to tell her. And then we had our first number one, ‘Small Town USA’, that was in ’09. You know, seven, eight years after I moved to Nashville, and I wrote the song probably seven, eight years before it became a hit.”
Since then, Justin has gone on to have several hit songs and plenty of success in his career, which has made all the time he spent paying his dues worth it. His latest single is called “You Look Like I Need A Drink,” and it will be featured on his forthcoming album.
