Jennifer Nettles just released her latest solo single, “Unlove You,” which will be on her forthcoming album on Big Machine Records, but it was ten years ago, that she started her career in country music as a member of Sugarland. When she thinks back on a decade in country music, Jennifer says, “I didn’t choose country music, country music chose me, and I am so blessed that it did, in the sense that comin’ from the background of being a singer/songwriter I love all kinds of music and yet I grew up around country music. It is a part of the tapestry of my musical life, and being from the southeast, you know that and gospel music and rock and roll and blues and R&B, there’s a whole mélange, if you will, a whole mixture of music that I love, and yet, for a singer/songwriter, and I think especially for a woman, and for now a days if you want to write good music, country music is the place, and definitely the place for me.”
One thing Jennifer loves about country music is it’s ability to celebrate brokenness and to be real, which is especially true of her song, “Unlove You.” She says, “That’s the kind of stuff that I’m interested in, in my life, and celebrating those stories that are everyone’s stories and in really getting honest and truthful. So, I’m so lucky to get to have had the career that I have had thus far and for country music to be my home.”

“Wow! It has been 10 years.
