(AUDIO) Rascal Flatts Enjoyed Intimacy of Las Vegas Shows

Rascal Flatts just wrapped up their second string of dates at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and Jay DeMarcus says they truly enjoyed the experience of the smaller venue. “We learned how to tailor our show for that venue there. You know, it’s a smaller crowd, there’s like 4,000 people, I think, that fits in there, and it’s a more intimate setting,” says Jay DeMarcus. “It was fun for us to sort of reign it in a little bit, pull our band guys a little closer to us and do a more intimate show where we felt like we were connecting more with the people in the room.”

Jay says the thing about playing larger arenas like they usually do with their tours these days, is that “Everything has to be a little bigger and the movements have to be bigger, the lights have to be bigger, the music has to be bigger.”

The guys have enjoyed incorporating some of the more intimate qualities of their smaller shows into their arena shows, like setting up the band in closer proximity, as opposed to having them spread out across the stage. You can see their new stage set up when they kick off their new tour on March 17th, as their latest single, “I Like the Sound of That,” moves into the top ten on the charts.

Rascal Flatts – what learned at Joint :36
Jay DeMarcus – “We learned how to tailor our show for that venue there. You know, it’s a smaller crowd, there’s like 4,000 people, I think, that fits in there, and it’s a more intimate setting, and we’re used to, over the years, playin’ amphitheaters and arenas that have 15,000+, and so everything has to be a little bigger and the movements have to be bigger, the lights have to be bigger, the music has to be bigger and it was fun for us to sort of reign it in a little bit, pull our band guys a little closer to us and do a more intimate show where we felt like we were connecting more with the people in the room.”
