Before Drake White landed his record deal, he just wanted to play his music anywhere and everywhere, for anybody that would listen. He says, “My motto was I’m gonna play anything, I don’t care if it’s a Domino’s parkin’ lot or The Ryman, I’m gonna do anything in between those two.”
He played a lot of fraternity and sorority houses in college towns, but it was one show in particular that he’ll never forget because it was so shocking … literally. Drake says, “There was probably four or five-thousand people there and we’re playin’ as a duo, it’s just two acoustic guitars, and the stage is wet because it’s kinda rainin’ comin’ down, and the whole stage has got about a inch of water on it. So every time you walked up to the mic to sing it would shock you and we kept singin’.”
Looking back at it now he says, “How stupid? We should’ve just quit but we just kept right on rollin’ through and it just poured and all those guys were just dancin’ in the rain and we just partied and played all night.”
Even when he plays a bad gig, Drake is just happy to be playing, because like his latest single says, he’s “Livin’ the Dream.”

Drake White – college circuit :44
“My motto was I’m gonna play anything, I don’t care if it’s a Dominos parkin’ lot or ‘The Ryman’, I’m gonna do anything in between those two. So, I found myself in a lot a places where, like standin’ on a hay bale at a fraternity house, but probably the craziest one, there was probably four or five-thousand people there and we’re playin’ as a duo, it’s just two acoustic guitars, and the stage is wet because it’s kinda rainin’ comin’ down and the whole stage has got about a inch of water on it, so every time you walked up to the mic to sing it would shock you and we kept singin’. How stupid? We should a just quit but we just kept right on rollin’ through and it just poured and all those guys were just dancin’ in the rain and we just partied and played all night.”
