(AUDIO) Florida Georgia Line Earns Only Diamond Certification In Country Music for “Cruise”

Florida Georgia Line was recently presented with a Diamond Award from the RIAA, certifying over 10 million sales of their debut single, “Cruise.” This makes FGL the only country act ever to have a Diamond certified single. Brian Kelley says the honor is “Very, very humbling. Very unexpected. We’re talkin’ the diamond. I mean, that’s crazy.”

When they first recorded the song, Brian says, “I remember tellin’ Tyler, I wasn’t being cocky I just believed in the song, I believed in what we were doin’, I believed in the all the love that we had put in it and the track that Joey had made and all the hours and everything that we had worked hard for. I said, ‘Hey man, this is probably gonna sell a million records.’”

Tyler admits he thought Brian was crazy at the time. And while Brian believed in the song, he also believes God had a firm hand on the success of “Cruise” and the subsequent success Florida Georgia Line has been experiencing. He says, “God just takes your little dreams and he blows them up and he magnifies ‘em so He can shine and with this new music comin’ I think He’ll shine more than ever and that’s what’s cool. So, we’re pumped.”

Florida Georgia Line’s latest single, “Confession,” is on the verge of becoming their next #1 song, and then they will release new music from a brand new album next month.
