Thomas Rhett knows he owes a lot to his mom for helping to shape him into the man he is today. He says, “My mom’s a saint. She’s a very, very sweet lady… Growin’ up mom really made sure that I had my head on straight and was always getting me involved in the youth group and always getting me to go on youth group trips and to camps. So she is a big, big reason the way that I am and the way that I am today, if that makes any sense. Mom just instilled a lot of good morals into me and I have a lot of my mom in me as far as morals go, and you know, just the way that we view life and the way that we love people.”
Thomas is grateful for his mother’s influence and he says, “I couldn’t ask for a better mother.”
Because Thomas’ dad, Rhett Akins, was in the business when he was growing up, and his mom lived through that with him, Thomas says, “She was very skeptical about me getting into this whole thing in the first place, obviously, for good reason. And now that she’s seen me do it she’s very proud of me. She’s one of my biggest fans.”
No doubt, Thomas’ mom is proud of the success he has achieved, with his latest single, “T-shirt,” racing up the charts, and well on its way to becoming his sixth number one song.

She was always there at everything, you know cause dad was on the road a lot and he couldn’t be at a lot of stuff. So growin’ up mom really made sure that I had my head on straight and was always getting me involved in the youth group and always getting me to go on youth group trips and to camps. So she is a big, big reason the way that I am and the way that I am today, if that makes any sense. So she really rubbed off on me in that aspect and I couldn’t ask for a better mother. And every time I get there she’s always there to pick me up from the airport. But she’s seen it, she’s seen it, she was married to it for a little bit and she was very skeptical about me getting into this whole thing in the first place, obviously, for good reason. And now that she’s seen me do it she’s very proud of me. She’s one of my biggest fans.”
