(AUDIO) JENNIFER NETTLES STAYS IN HER OWN LANE WHEN IT COMES TO MAKING MUSIC

Some artist make it a point to pay attention to what’s on the radio and what types of songs are having success, and try to figure out how they can perhaps blend some of those elements into their own music, but Jennifer Nettles says, “I pretty much keep my head down and hope that it fits or hope that it doesn’t fit, but hope that it stands out and impacts people, is what I hope.”

Besides wanting to create her own brand of music that will hopefully impact people, Jennifer says, “Being a mom of a three-year-old and working, I don’t have a lot of time. I don’t have the same time that I used to, to sit around or to drive around and, you know, hear new music. So, I catch it as I can. And a lot of times that’s also from word of mouth, etc. So for me to listen to the radio and want to try to write a song that sounds like someone else’s is not only not much of an option, but really not a desire either.”

Fortunately, Jennifer’s lane seems to be working quite nicely for her, with her fantastic new album, Playing with Fire, and her emotional single, “Unlove You.”
