Justin Moore spends a lot of time out on the road, and it used to be that his family would just pack up and go with him, but now that his oldest daughter, Ella, is in kindergarten, it’s not that easy when school is in session. So he and his wife Kate have rules about how long they go without seeing each other. Justin says, “I try not to be gone any longer than four or five days without seeing the girls.”

While Justin’s career and his music are important to him, he says the trick to keeping everybody happy and keeping the family unit together is prioritizing. He says, “There was a time in my career where I didn’t have the right priorities at the top. And, you know, putting God and them first. You know, music is third. It’s not as important as some of the other things are.”

Justin is currently out on the road with Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford on Brantley’s Take It Outside Summer Tour. He’s also getting ready to release a new album later this summer, featuring his latest single, “You Look Like I Need a Drink.”

“Yeah and we typically don’t break ‘em. I mean, every now and then you’re forced to because of, you know, certain situations. But, I try not to be gone any longer than four or five days without seeing the girls. If I do, I try to bring ‘em. You know, Ella starting school this year has really thrown a kink in that. You know, she has to be at school. Back in the past, if I’m going out for two weeks, they’d just come with me. But, you know, I think it’s as simple as prioritizing. There was a time in my career where I didn’t have the right priorities at the top. And, you know, putting God and them first. You know, music is third. It’s not as important as some of the other things are.”
