Landing an opening spot on a major tour takes a lot of conversations and negotiations and a lot of people all working toward a common goal, but Drake White says it’s also about relationships. He’s opening for Zac Brown Band on the Black Out the Sun Tour this summer and Drake says, “You kind of keep your head down and you write good songs and you go out there and you tour, and in the midst of all this, you make good relationships. And that’s what anything is about in life, is those relationships. And we’ve had the opportunity to befriend Zac and the guys, and it was really just a conversation with me and Zac. And Zac asked me what he could do to help me. And I was like ‘Well, I know what you could do to help me. You could put me on all your dates next year.’ And he’s like ‘Done. I’ll get it done.’
Fortunately, Zac is a man of his word and he kept his promise to bring Drake out on tour this year, and Drake, who has a top 30 song with “Livin’ the Dream,” says, “He stuck to it, and it’s magic, man. I’m so blessed and excited to be out there with him.”
