During CMA Music Festival, Justin Moore was a surprise guest during Hank Williams, Jr’s set at Nissan Stadium, along with Chris Janson. The trio performed “Born to Boogie” together. Justin says, “I was fortunate to re-record, along with Brantley and Hank, ‘Born to Boogie’ for his most recent album. For me, obviously that’s, a hillbilly from Arkansas, that’s pretty special. And I’ve made no bones about it that Hank’s a huge inspiration, from a musical perspective, of mine.”
For Justin, it was a thrill to get to share the stage with Hank, whom he once toured with at the beginning of his career. He says, “One of the first tours I ever did was with Hank, Jr. and Lynyrd Skynyrd on the ‘Rowdy Friends Tour’, that was seven or eight years ago. And so to have the opportunity to actually be on stage with him, obviously goes without saying is a huge honor, and, you know, to get to do it with Janson, who’s a good buddy of mine, so it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”
A portion of their performance will likely be incorporated into the upcoming CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock television special, that will air on ABC on August 3rd.
