(AUDIO) ELI YOUNG BAND EXPLORES MULTIPLE WELLS FOR THE BEST SONGS

Eli Young Band is working on a new album that will feature their latest single, “Saltwater Gospel,” and when it comes to choosing songs, Mike Eli says, “The one thing that we’ve always said, that the best songs that the best songs that are in the bucket will go on the album.  Whether we wrote the tunes or not, it’s really about putting the best songs on the album.  So, we’ve always written the majority of the records that we’ve made.”

The good news is that Eli Young Band is at a point in their career where not only can they write their own songs, but they also have the chance to collaborate with and pull from the well of some of the best writers in Nashville.  Jon Jones says, “When we first started coming to town, you’d kind of be thrown into, basically, like a cubicle situation where you’re just supposed to sit down and write a song.  And that doesn’t necessarily breed great creativity, but we’re at a point now where we can kind of call our friends and they can come out on the road with us for a run, and kind of push us to write as opposed to just sitting around the bus and doing our normal routine.”

“Saltwater Gospel” is available now, and Eli Young Band’s next album will be released in late 2016.

Eli Young Band – writing songs for album  :38

Mike Eli – “The one thing that we’ve always said, that the best songs that the best songs that are in the bucket will go on the album.  Whether we wrote the tunes or not, it’s really about putting the best songs on the album.  So, we’ve always written the majority of the records that we’ve made.”

Jon Jones – “I think we’re also at a point as a band that we’ve developed a lot of good relationships with some really great songwriters.  And when we first started coming to town, you’d kind of be thrown into, basically, like a cubicle situation where you’re just supposed to sit down and write a song.  And that doesn’t necessarily breed great creativity, but we’re at a point now where we can kind of call our friends and they can come out on the road with us for a run, and kind of push us to write as opposed to just sitting around the bus and doing our normal routine.”
