Martina McBride has a successful career and a busy schedule, but she’s also a mom, who’s dealing with what a lot of other moms are dealing with, the fact that her kids are growing up. Her oldest daughter, Delaney, is already in college, and her middle daughter, Emma, just graduated from high school in June. Martina says, “I feel like just yesterday I was in high school, so it’s weird for me because time marches on and life keeps going and you have these mile markers, you know these big events that let you know where you are in your life, but I still feel like I’m not there.”
While Delaney is already in college, with Emma going to college it’s going to be an adjustment for the entire family because Martina says, “She’s the first one that’s going to be going to college away. Delaney went to college in Nashville and she still lives here, so it’s a big adjustment, especially now having, like I said, two out of the house. It is a big adjustment. I think we’re all gonna walk around a little lost for a while, but I’m really happy for her, and she’s gonna do amazing things.”
Fortunately, Martina has plenty to help keep her mind off her emptying nest, like her new single, “Just Around the Corner,” and the upcoming Band Against Cancer concert series with Sarah Cannon, which you can learn more about at BandAgainstCancer.com.
Martina McBride – two high school grads :36
“Yeah, I feel like just yesterday I was in high school, so it’s weird for me because time marches on and life keeps going and you have these mile markers, you know these big events that let you know where you are in your life, but I still feel like I’m not there. But yeah, having Emma graduate, she’s the first one that’s going to be going to college away. Delaney went to college in Nashville and she still lives here, so it’s a big adjustment, especially now having, like I said, two out of the house. It is a big adjustment. I think we’re all gonna walk around a little lost for a while, but I’m really happy for her, and she’s gonna do amazing things.”
