Drake White is a rare college football fan who actually attended the University of Auburn, but he is a die-hard, lifelong University of Alabama fan. Regardless though, of who he cheers for, Drake thinks college football is a great metaphor for life. He says, “Football has always symbolized hard work and dedication and a commitment to excellence. That’s the same thing that is on the top of my goal charts of my music. My band hears it all the time. When you commit to excellence, then you become better and you become healthier, because excellence runs all the way around from physical, mental, spiritual, and everything. We’ve committed to that and we’ve committed to being great.”
When Drake watches his beloved Crimson Tide on Saturdays he says, “Watching Alabama football, it all starts with a great coach. And watching that coach do what he does and get a group of people motivated, like I learn a lot from that. It’s great to watch a team work like a well-oiled machine. That’s in business, that’s in football, that’s a family, that’s a marriage, that’s a good hunting dog that you’ve trained well. I mean life is about discipline and training and making the most out of what you’ve been given.”
Drake White spent the summer on the road with the Zac Brown Band on the Black Out the Sun Tour, which will wrap up this weekend, and then he’ll be “Livin’ the Dream” and continuing his pursuit of excellence on the fall leg of the Somewhere on a Beach Tour with Dierks Bentley.
