(AUDIO) JENNIFER NETTLES LOVES THE DIVERSITY OF HER ACTING OPPORTUNITIES

Later this year, Jennifer Nettles will revive her role as Avie Lee Parton, Dolly Parton’s mother, which she first portrayed in the 2015 television movie, Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors.  It was one of two major roles Jennifer had the chance to play and they couldn’t have been more different.  “Yes, polar opposite for sure,” laughs Jennifer.  “But how fun, you know, and how beautiful that that’s really the expansive spectrum of the human experience. That you can go from playing a crazy role like Roxie Hart (in the musical Chicago) where, you know, the first time someone sees me on stage in that role I have killed my boyfriend and blamed my husband for it. And then, you know, all the way to this beautiful touching family story of love, and loss, and faith. It’s been a very rewarding artistically year, it was, for sure.”

This holiday season, Jennifer will return to her role as Dolly Parton’s mother in Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, which will premiere on Wednesday, November 30 at 9/8c on NBC.  In the meantime, Jennifer is promoting her brand new single, “Hey Heartbreak,” off her latest album, Playing with Fire.
