When Martina McBride is preparing to record a new album, she rarely goes into the studio with an agenda or a certain type of song she’s looking for. Instead, she says, “The process is always the same, is I just listen. I’m not looking for any particular thing. I’m just listening to songs and when a song comes along it’s usually an immediate gut instinct. I just go like, ‘Oh, I love those lyrics, I love that melody. It feels like me. That’s my song.”
That’s the approach Martina took when making her latest album, Reckless, which is how she found songs like her latest single, “Just Around the Corner.”
