(AUDIO) JENNIFER NETTLES ADAPTS TO THE ROAD AS A SONGWRITER

As a busy touring musician, Jennifer Nettles has had to learn to be creative and write songs in a variety of conditions and a variety of places.  She says, “I’ve written in so many crazy spaces that you just get to a place where you’re able to block out the world and dive in.”

It’s not always easy, especially when she’s on the road.  Jennifer says, “Some of the more challenging, I would say, would be either dressing rooms or backs of busses at festivals where you cannot get away from the sound and you cannot get away from the other music because it’s so loud and so ambient. It’s outside, you know. So some of those spaces are really challenging. I mean there are things where suddenly there is a demolition derby or a horse carriage race or something at a fair going on outside, which is always fun to try and figure out how to navigate.”

Fortunately, Jennifer was able to find enough creative spaces to write several songs for her latest Playing with Fire album, although she didn’t have a hand in writing her latest single, “Hey Heartbreak,” which was written by Sara Haze, Shane McAnally, Jimmy Robbins.  Jennifer will release her Christmas album, To Celebrate Christmas, this Friday, October 28th.
