There was a time when some critics considered Rascal Flatts too pop for country, but these days, the spectrum of country music has widened out considerably, and Rascal Flatts’ sound has carved out its own niche in the vast landscape of country music. Joe Don Rooney says, “Yeah it’s amazing because country music has evolved so much through the years obviously and I think this genre has grown so much through the years. And I think it needs everybody that’s in it to make it what it is.”
Rascal Flatts is proud to be a part of country music. Joe Don says, “I go back to Jay and Gary moved here in the mid 90’s, late 90’s, and I moved here in 1998. We moved here because we wanted to be a part of country music in some way. I mean obviously it exceeded our dreams way beyond what we ever thought. But we’re proud to be part of country and wherever it’s headed, we can’t wait to go there.”
Rascal Flatts’ latest single, “Yours If You Want It,” is currently flying up the chart. It’s the first release off their next album, which will be released later this year.
