Justin Moore is known as a traditionalist in country music, and he admits, “I was vehemently, even two or three years ago, I was vehemently and adamantly against any loops and tracks and anything that wasn’t a real instrument I was not going to have it on my album.”
But if you’ve heard Justin’s Kinda Don’t Care album, then you know he had a change of heart. Justin says he realized, “Nowadays there’s not much of it out there that don’t have it. And rather than be close minded and push back, part of my goal with this album, too, was I’ve never recorded an album with the intention of feeling good from a music standpoint. I’ve always just been concerned by, you know, lyrical content and being super country and this and that.”
So with the help of his producer, Justin tried out some of the more modern sounds that are showing up in country music on a few of his songs, like his latest single, “Somebody Else Will.” He still kept a lot of his traditional sound, but he says, “Instead of mixing in some other stuff along with that like we’ve done in the past, we mixed in some stuff that had a modern kind of sound to it and vibe to it.”

Justin Moore – using loops and tracks :50
“I was vehemently, even two or three years ago, I was vehemently and adamantly against any loops and tracks and anything that wasn’t a real instrument I was not going to have it on my album. But nowadays there’s not much of it out there that don’t have it. But you know instead of mixing in some other stuff along with that like we’ve done in the past, we mixed in some stuff that had a modern kind of sound to it and vibe to it. And like I said, I wanted to cut an album that really felt a little different, not necessarily sounded different but felt a little different if that makes sense.”
