A Thousand Horses has been together a little less than a decade as a band, and even though they’re all musicians in their own right, they say there was never a question that they would pursue their musical dreams as a band. According to Michael Hobby, “There’s never really a thought, like we looked at it as you know we need to be a band because you know there’s too many solos or too many duos. We’ve always been a band. I mean Bill and I have had a band together since we were 15 years old growing up in South Carolina. And Graham’s been playing with us kind of on and off since then too when we were kids growing up. And we met Zach and it’s always been A Thousand Horses.”
Without hesitation, the guys have always stuck together, and Michael says, “We’ve always kind of kept our head down and kind of do what we do and you know it’s amazing to see the response and fans getting behind it. So I wouldn’t say that it’s a conscious thought that we have to be a band, it’s just kind of who we are. We always have been. That’s why we started writing songs.”
Interestingly, A Thousand Horses’ new single, “Preachin’ to the Choir,” is the only song they’ve ever recorded that they didn’t have a hand in writing.
