Carly Pearce’s debut single, “Every Little Thing,” is based on a very real and very painful break up that she went through a few years ago, and while she has very much moved on from that past relationship, she admits that singing the song can sometimes stir up emotions. She says, “I think even in relationships that I’ve had since then or things that I’ve gone through, that emotion, when you really love somebody, doesn’t fade. And, you know, I can see somebody in the crowd crying and get emotional in that. Or I can think about a situation that’s happening to me in present time and be upset about that, or be in the city where the person is from and think about it. But it’s something that we all deal with. We all deal with heartbreak and so it comes up in different forms a lot.”
The experience of seeing how strongly people have connected with “Every Little Thing” is what has inspired Carly to continue writing from a very honest and very real place for her debut album, because she realizes those authentic emotions, no matter how personal, are what people are always going to relate to and react to the most.
