Brett Young is nominated for New Artist of the Year at this year’s CMA Awards, and while he’s enjoyed some great success at this point in his career, he knows it’s no time to let up or get comfortable. “The funny thing is, is you do have all these moments where somebody is singing your song back to you or every once in a while somebody stops you in the airport and wants a picture,” says Brett, “and those moments do remind you that things are going well but for the most part you still wake up tomorrow at 4:30 and you’re looking at each other going, some stuff really hasn’t changed at all.”
While Brett tries to take everything in and enjoy the moments like being nominated for CMA New Artist of the Year, he says, “It’s really gratifying and it’s really exciting, at the same time I think it’s important to keep your head down and keep the same work ethic and keep doing the same things that got you there in the first place.”
Brett’s work ethic has lead to his third single, “Like I Loved You,” being in the top 15 on the charts and continuing to move toward being his third #1 song. You can see Brett as a presenter and find out if he can take home the trophy for Best New Artist on Wednesday night’s 51st Annual CMA Awards, live from Nashville, at 8/7pm CT on ABC.
