(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG WILL NEVER TELL SOMEONE ‘WE CAN STILL BE FRIENDS’

Brett Young’s latest single addresses that moment when someone breaks up with you, but then offers, “We can still be friends.”  While Brett has been on the receiving end of that line, he’s never delivered it.  He says, “I’ve never said that because I had it said to me very early on and I remember how it made me feel.  Being on the receiving end of that, it feels very insulting even if it’s not meant to be. I mean I think it’s 50/50 the person saying it actually means it, but the person hearing is never ready to hear it.”

Brett says he and his co-writer, Jesse Lee, wrote the song after they got into a spirited discussion about the audacity of someone to tell you “we can still be friends” as they’re breaking your heart.
