(AUDIO) FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE’S WIDE EARLY INFLUENCES DIRECTLY IMPACTED THEIR SOUND TODAY

Florida Georgia Line can be a bit of chameleons when it comes to music, singing everything from songs like “Cruise” and their latest party song, “Smooth,” to more spiritual and romantic songs like “H.O.L.Y.” and “God, Your Mama and Me.”  Brian Kelley credits their early musical influences with the wide range in FGL’s music.  Listing some of the people he and Tyler grew up listening to, he says, “Garth Brooks, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alabama, Alan Jackson, even the Christian world Shane and Shane, growing up we loved them; Lil Wayne, Eminem in the hip hop world.  We both would make mix tapes where you’d have anything from Kenny Chesney to literally Lil Wayne to a Shane and Shane song or a Casting Crowns song.”

And while Florida Georgia Line’s music takes many different shapes, Brian says at the end of the day, “We’re just music lovers. Country to the core but music’s always got to evolve or you’re going backwards.”
