The guys in Rascal Flatts each have kids of their own, so Christmas tends to revolve around them these days, but Gary, Jay and Joe Don each remember when they were kids and received their favorite gift. Jay DeMarcus says, “The most memorable Christmas gift I ever received was an old beat up set of Gretsch drums that I got for Christmas one year. My mom and dad had gone to a pawn shop and gotten that for me. It was so great to have a quote, unquote real drum kit to play on and I never will forget that for the rest of my life how exciting it was for me to have a real instrument and not just the kid version.”
Joe Don’s most memorable gift also had to do with music. He says, “My first gift I remember was a four-track recorder. So I got to start actually making some music of my own and it really put me on a path with creativity and music. And I mean, I just loved that thing. It was just amazing.”
Gary’s most memorable gift wasn’t musical, but it was fun when it worked. He says, “My favorite gift was a wind-up Evil Knievel. That was my favorite. Wind it up and do a wheelie sometimes.”
Don’t forget, Rascal Flatts can help you celebrate the holidays with their Christmas album they released last year, The Greatest Gift Of All.
