Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush co-wrote Sugarland’s new single, “Still the Same,” and they say the song is more about forward momentum than nostalgia. Kristian explains, “There’s a certain amount of joy that comes from seeing somebody you haven’t seen in a while. And it’s always hard for me to determine if it’s my joy or the other person’s joy. And part of it because it’s familiar, part of it because it acknowledges the distance. It’s been a long time. And it’s not looking back, it’s looking forward and I think that’s what this song is.”
Jennifer agrees and she says, “I think [it’s looking forward] from the perspective of the present. It’s just saying, ‘here we are right now and here we go.’”
Sugarland just announced their Still The Same Tour, which will take them to 48 different cities this summer. Pre-sales start this Tuesday and you can get more information on SugarlandMusic.com.
Sugarland – Still the Same
Kristian Bush – “There’s a certain amount of joy that comes from seeing somebody you haven’t seen in a while. And it’s always hard for me to determine if it’s my joy or the other person’s joy. And part of it because it’s familiar, part of it because it acknowledges the distance. It’s been a long time. And it’s not looking back, it’s looking forward and I think that’s what this song is.”
Jennifer Nettles – “But yet, I think, doing it from the perspective of the present. It’s just saying, ‘here we are right now and here we go.’
Kristian – “(laugh) And here we go.”
