(AUDIO) BRANTLEY GILBERT MOURNS THE LOSS OF HIS SANCTUARY ON WHEELS

It was about a week ago that Brantley Gilbert’s personal tour bus caught on fire as it was being driven back from Canada to the U.S.  Fortunately, Brantley and his family were not on the bus at the time, and the two drivers who were on board were not injured.  Unfortunately, Brantley’s beloved tour bus was deemed a total loss, as were many of his belongings.

Brantley had just had the bus renovated so that his wife and four-month-old son, Barrett, could travel on the road with him and he says, “We had just finished all the baby aspects of the bus and got it just perfect.  And everything that I own that fit me is burned, a couple guitars, documents, you know, letters, notes, pictures, all the baby stuff that was on there.”

While some people might think it’s a bummer that Brantley’s bus burned down, for him it feels more like his house burned down. “Anybody that knows me will tell you that I get real attached to my bus,” says Brantley.  “I spend a lot of time on it, and if Amber and Barrett aren’t home, I sleep in the bus.  It’s just my place.  It’s kind of like my little sanctuary so I feel like I kinda lost an old friend a little bit but we’ll build another one.”

For now Brantley and his family are traveling on a temporary bus while he continues to criss-cross the country on The Ones That Like Me Tour.

“Yeah, the bus is done.  You know, we had it built with him in mind comin’ and we had just finished all the baby aspects of the bus and got it just perfect.  And everything that I own that fit me is burned, a couple guitars, documents, you know, letters, notes, pictures, all the baby stuff that was on there.  You know, it’s not so much like, ‘Awww, your bus burned down.’  It’s more like, ‘Man, my house burned down.’  So it’s been interesting, but you know, anybody that knows me will tell you that I get real attached to my bus.  I spend a lot of time on it, and if Amber and Barrett aren’t home, I sleep in the bus.  It’s just my place.  It’s kind of like my little sanctuary so I feel like I kinda lost an old friend a little bit but we’ll build another one.”
