(AUDIO) MIDLAND CHANNELED COUNTRY LEGEND GARY STEWART FOR ‘BURN OUT’

When you listen to Midland’s latest single, “Burn Out,” the guys say there’s a reason it kind of sounds like part two of their debut single, “Drinkin’ Problem.”  “The reason I think that it does feel like a companion to ‘Drinkin’ Problem’ is because it kind of feels like the same guy and at least a similar setting,” says Jess Carson.  “And we wrote those songs back to back with Shane and Josh.”

Besides being in the same head space when they wrote “Burn Out” and “Drinkin’ Problem,” the guys also had 70’s and 80’s country legend Gary Stewart in mind when they were writing both songs.  Cameron Duddy says, “Yeah, the guy’s … that’s Gary Stewart.  It might as well just be Gary Stewart sitting at the bar.”

Mark Wystrach agrees and says Gary is basically the character they’re singing about in both songs, which you can find on Midland’s debut album, On the Rocks.
