Justin Moore’s latest single is the title track off his most recent album, and it came about in part because Justin was worried that he might be pushing his musical boundaries a little too much. Justin explains, “We did do some stuff that was outside my comfort zone on this album and that kind of made me a little nervous. And I’m a little gun shy to do those things because I don’t ever want to contradict myself from a musical perspective in the eyes of my fans. I don’t want them to go, ‘Man, why is he doing this?’ and things like that.”
Justin’s longtime producer, Jeremy Stover, attempted to calm Justin down by pointing out that nobody will mistake him for anything but a country singer. According to Justin, “He pulled me aside and he goes, ‘Man you’ve got to chill. Have you ever heard yourself sing? It sounds country. I heard you sing ‘Purple Rain’ in concert last night. It sounded country and it sounds like you. And as long as you have a passion for this music and you love it it’s going to be infectious and other people are gonna to love it.’”
In essence, Jeremy was telling Justin he had to kinda not care that people would think he was pushing the boundaries too far because he wasn’t, and that is part of what led to Justin choosing the title of his latest album.
