When you listen to Midland’s latest song, “Burn Out,” it has a definite throwback feel to it and is somewhat reminiscent of their #1 debut single, “Drinkin’ Problem. Mark Wystrach explains, “’Burn Out’ is a throwback to the writing style that we’re in love with from the 70s and the 80s. It’s a soulful blues country song, that’s what it is. It lives in the honky tonks and its melody and the music is what makes it joyous and it’s so big.”
And if “Burn Out” does remind you a little bit of “Drinkin’ Problem,” that’s not by accident, because Mark says, “It’s a sister song to ‘Drinkin’ Problem.’ It kind of explains how somebody could get to that point. It’s a heartbreak song but it’s a beautiful one.”
“Burn Out” is the third release off Midland’s critically acclaimed debut album, On the Rocks.
