Tyler Rich is the first to admit that he is not a very athletic guy, which is why when it comes to spending a summer day at the lake or the beach, he’s more a ‘sit on the boat or in the sand and watch’ kinda guy. “Wakeboarding to me never was picked up as a hobby,” says Tyler. “I would go out on the boat every summer all the time – we grew up next to lakes – and all the friends would be wakeboarding and I would just fall every five seconds I tried to get up and I was like, this is not fun. What’s fun for me is sitting on the boat drinking and listening to music, watching my friends almost die on waves.”
If he’s not on a boat, Tyler, who’s climbing the charts with his debut single, “The Difference,” says he enjoys, “Just sitting on the coast, just sitting in the sand doing anything water related. I don’t necessarily love to get into the ocean because, you know, they’re like, ‘Oh, you’ll never get bit by a shark because the chances are blah blah blah blah.’ Well I’m like, ‘The chances are blah blah blah blah and zero if I’m just chillin on the sand.’”
Tyler says he will get in and swim and doesn’t avoid the water altogether because he loves anything about the beach, and a perfect summer day would involve anything ocean or beach related.
Tyler Rich – summertime :44
“Here we go back to my non-athletic side. Wakeboarding to me never was picked up as a hobby. I would go out on the boat every summer all the time – we grew up next to lakes – and all the friends would be wakeboarding and I would just fall every five seconds I tried to get up and I was like, this is not fun. What’s fun for me is sitting on the boat drinking and listening to music, watching my friends almost die on waves. Being from California, and growing up around the water, man, and just sitting on the coast, just sitting in the sand doing anything water related. I don’t necessarily love to get into the ocean because, you know, they’re like, ‘Oh, you’ll never get bit by a shark because the chances are blah blah blah blah.’ Well I’m like, ‘The chances are blah blah blah blah and zero if I’m just chillin on the sand.’ Especially in California, L.A., there’s so many Great Whites in the water now. That doesn’t mean I don’t get in. I do get in and I swim, and I love it. But just anything beach and ocean and lake related is perfect for me, any time of the year.”
