Riley Green was a three-sport athlete in high school who went on to be the quarterback in college at Jacksonville State, and he says, “Football’s definitely my favorite sport to watch – college. I don’t get into the pros as much as I did.”
As for his favorite teams, for college, Riley says, “I’m still a big Auburn fan.” And when it comes to pro sports, as an Alabama native, he roots for the Falcons and the Braves, but he says, “What I’ve started to notice is everybody’s favorite pro team in Alabama is wherever their favorite player from Alabama went to play at, or their favorite player from Auburn. And I fall right into that. I like the Panthers. Cam Newton went to Carolina, so that was kind of the direction I went with that. But I’m definitely a bigger college fan than professional.”
Riley’s having to catch most college games out on the road right now since he’s in the middle of his Outlaws Like Us headlining tour promoting his debut EP, which is available now featuring his debut single, “There Was This Girl.” But chances are, wherever he’s watching the games, you’ll be able to hear him shouting “War Eagle!” on any given Saturday.
Riley Green – college and pro teams :32
“I’m still a big Auburn fan. I mean football’s definitely my favorite sport to watch, college. I don’t get into the pros as much as I did, and I’ve started to realize, you know, when people ask people in Alabama what their favorite pro team is and most people say the Falcons. Same way with professional baseball. We don’t have a professional team, so it’s usually the Braves. But what I’ve started to notice is everybody’s favorite pro team in Alabama is wherever their favorite player from Alabama went to play at, or their favorite player from Auburn. And I fall right into that. I like the Panthers. Cam Newton went to Carolina, so that was kind of the direction I went with that. But I’m definitely a bigger college fan than professional.”
