Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren are college football rivals, with him rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs, and her being a UT Vols fan. Their teams played each other recently and Georgia spanked Tennessee 38 – 12, which you would think would give Thomas bragging rights, but when it comes to being a gloater, he says, “I can’t be. I can’t be a gloater because I like my happy life way too much. We vowed a couple years back to not watch that game with each other, just for the head space it puts me in if we lose. But this year we were on the road and Lauren was at home.”
In fact, Lauren was watching the game with their two little girls, all dressed up in orange and white UT outfits. Thomas says his daughters don’t have Georgia Bulldogs outfits, but he jokes, “So if anybody’s looking for a gift to get us, that will never be worn, that will sit in a closet, that would be great.”
Fortunately, Thomas is allowed to beam with pride about other things in his life, like the fact that fans are loving his latest single, “Sixteen,” and he is well underway recording his next album while he’s out on his successful Life Changes Tour.
